Mrs. Kristin Kishanuk - Math Instructional Coach

 

Mrs. Kishanuk went to Adelphi University, where she obtained her Master's Degree in Childhood Education and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. She is originally from New York, which is where she started her career in teaching. Once she moved to Texas, she became a teacher at Sunrise McMillian Elementary, where she taught 5th Grade Math and Science for 5 years. This is her 5th year as an Instructional Coach. Previous to this school year, she was an Instructional Coach at T.A. Sims Elementary. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling anywhere she can enjoy the outdoors and history, and doing DIY/crafting projects.

Dr. Barbara F. Dowell - Librarian

 

Dr. Barbara F. Dowell is the Library Media Specialist at Sunrise McMillan Elementary. She began her career as an educator after graduating from Prairie View A & M University in 1982. Her early teaching career began at Wilmer Hutchins High school, where she taught for 6 years. Ms. Dowell transitioned to the Dallas ISD in 1998, teaching high school and middle school Social Studies. Later in 2006, she graduated from Texas Women’s University with a  Library of Science Master's Degree.

Upon graduating from library school, she became the school teacher librarian at Dallas ISD, where she served for 14 years. In 2019, Dr. Dowell earned an Ed. D degree from Walden University in Adult Education and Higher Learning. She is married and has 3 adult children and 3 grandchildren. She has always been resourceful, focused, and highly motivated, which has assisted her in achieving her educational goals.

Dr. Dowell has always had a love for learning and a curiosity about the wonders of the world. Her favorite adult book is “Becoming,” a memoir by Michelle Obama. Her favorite children’s books are anything written by Eric Carle. Dr. Dowell loves to travel, shop, read, discover new things, and decorate. She is also a collector of anything watermelon, snow globes, and antiques.

I am beginning my 10th year in education, and my 5th year as a school counselor. I am from Omaha, Ne and have been residing in Texas since 2010. I choose to work as a school counselor to equip children with strategies to empower themselves.

Ms. Erica Thompson, Family Engagement

I am Erica Thompson, the mother of four amazing daughters; Carrintyn (14), Caylee (12), Cameryn (11) and Chrysta (9). With that being said, my hobbies include all the activities they are involved in. I am a cheer, dance, track, volleyball and now football mom. I lead a very busy life and schedule, as you can see. I am currently attending GCU pursuing my bachelors degree in business and entrepreneurship. I started with the district in 2013 as a substitute and I have been holding strong since then. I decided to work in education because I enjoy learning new things and I love to see children learn new and exciting things.

Ms. Beverly Bell- Data Analyst

My name is Beverly Bell and I am originally from Lafayette, La. Prior to moving to Texas, I attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, formerly the University of Southwestern Louisiana, where I received a Bachelor's of Arts and a Bachelor's of Science degree. After several years of living in and working for Fort Worth ISD, I attended Dallas Baptist University where I received my Master's of Education. I have been in education for twenty-five years all within the Fort Worth ISD.
