Teacher Incentive Allotment

  • The Teacher Incentive Allotment was enacted and authorized by the Texas Legislature in 2019 to help attract and retain teachers in hard-to-staff schools. There are two pathways for teachers to earn a TIA designation and allotment: through the local designation system or through National Board Certification.

The TIA local designation system is approved by the Texas Education Agency, and the approval process is rigorous. Visit  for details about the approval process and for additional insights into the program.

Our mission is to attract and retain teachers who positively impact students’ lives. Moreover, Fort Worth ISD strives to provide teachers opportunities to earn additional compensation above and beyond their base salary. Fort Worth ISD applied and was approved to implement the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) local designation system in 2021, providing an opportunity for teachers to earn additional compensation. Since the initial implementation, additional courses have been approved and included in TIA eligibility. The courses were selected based on several different factors in collaboration with Learning and Leading as well as other district stakeholders to address areas of high need within the District.

Teachers remain eligible for consideration in each year’s cohort as long as they continue to teach an eligible course in the classroom and meet the designation requirements. For more details about the local designation system, please refer to the TIA Guidebook.

Designated teachers are paid annually for five years, according to the allotment amounts calculated by TEA and the approved spending plan outlined in the TIA Guidebook.

We deeply appreciate our teachers' unwavering commitment to providing a high-quality education for our students.
