U.S. News and World Report awards a Bronze Medal to Marine Creek Collegiate High School

Marine Creek Collegiate High School (MCCHS) was identified as a bronze medal winner according to U.S. News and World Report.

U.S. News and World Report made the following findings:

  • 100% proficient on mathematics state exit exam
  • 85.8% mastery of state exit exams (based on the proportion of students who achieved each proficiency level).
  • 14.5% Gap Between Actual and Expected Performance Index (distance between expected on state assessments given the school’s poverty level, positive value means school performed better than expected.)

2017 National Rankings distribution:

  • Schools are ranked based on performance on state-required tests and preparedness of students for college.

U.S. News and World Report ranking methodology:

  • Rankings were based on key principles: A great high school must serve all of its students well, not just those who are college bound, and it must be able to produce measurable academic outcomes to show it is successfully educating its student body across a range of performance indicators.

Criteria for rankings:

  • STEP 1 | Students perform better than expected in their state.
  • STEP 2 | Disadvantaged students perform better than state average.
  • STEP 3 | Student graduation rates meet or exceed a national standard.
  • STEP 4 | Students are prepared for college-level coursework.

Texas Rankings:

  • In the 2017 U.S. News and World Report Best High Schools rankings, Texas earned 65 gold medal schools, 153 silver medal schools and 371 bronze medal schools.

Fort Worth ISD Rankings:

  • In the 2017 U.S. News and World Report Best High Schools rankings, Fort Worth ISD earned two silver medal schools and one bronze medal school.
